Amanda McMaine

Practicing with grace &
  living from the Core...with intention.

Celebrating over 39 years of teaching yoga...  Amanda’s distinctive teaching style offers a practice both grounded in practical, technically precise asana and transformed by breath and the subtle body. She has spent her life in an intense study of movement, a search for what truly frees us and inspires our asanas and our lives. Her background includes an ongoing focus on the alignment principles of Iyengar yoga and 21 years study with Angela Farmer and Victor Vankooten. She holds a masters degree in dance and kinesiology.

With the use of uniquely vivid imagery and introspective dialogue, Amanda's teaching style is clear, nourishing and distinctive.

She believes that by beginning in stillness, breathing deeply, and expanding into movement, we connect to the inner core that creates and supports alignment in even the most challenging poses.

Amanda's teaching has an underlying thread of strengthening trust in oneself and realizing one's true nature.

Her understanding of yoga’s essence and her experience in teaching allows her classes to be spontaneous, fluid and accommodating to all levels of students. Beginning with breath consciousness and pranayama, each movement builds upon the previous one as deeper natural support and alignment in the asanas is discovered. This is a practice for individuals who wish to achieve a more subtle understanding of yoga, drawing upon the strength and intelligence that prana offers.
